In a period when England was fast heading for Civil War the extreme Protestants of the country, known as Puritans, were persecuted for their non-conformist beliefs. Sticking resolutely to their faith Stone and Hooker were forced out of several positions as ministers before fleeing the country.

Stone of Hertford, and Hooker of Marefield in Leicestershire, travelled over the Atlantic to establish the new colony of Hartford in the United States of America.

After a two month ordeal accross the Atlantic they hoped to find peace and freedom in the New World. Their troubes did not end there though.....

This tale of hardship and persecution illuminates the lives of two heroes. Their story is told through period drama, with shots of modern day locations to bring to life an adventure over 350 years old.
